Nature just as soon lets a forest fire burn as a flower bloom. It’s not personal. Which makes it that much more unsettling, because there is no fighting mother nature.
So instead, we fight one another, as made painfully apparent in the race to elect a new president of the United States.
For me, and likely many of you, the anger, the hate, the fear….It has been overwhelming, and often I have felt somewhat helpless, going through my day, even though underneath my smiles and astute business transactions, I felt unsteady and a bit insecure. I found myself being more reactive, less patient, and more easily frustrated.
And now that the decision has been made, will the hatred and anger continue? Is it necessary?
Sure, anger is a necessary emotion. It calls us into action to protect ourselves and those we love from being hurt or disrespected. The problem with anger is that it’s vibration is so low, that when we allow it to drive our behaviors, thoughts and actions, it makes us no different than any primitive species that functions not from their higher selves, their intellect or spirit, but purely from their lower (also called, “lizard”) brains.
Our we a nation that has not evolved and only functions from our lizard brain rather than the highly intelligent and beautiful brain we have been given as human beings?
I think not.
We have the power to rise above your negative emotions, our primitive selves, to reach our higher selves and act from there. We can use anger or fear as our motivator to know we want to take action, but we do not let it drive us any further. Instead, we stop. We mentally tell ourselves, “I’m angry. I’m scared. Now is not a good time to say anything. I need to take care of myself, my hurts, and my heart. I need to open my heart and heal so that I can get into a better place. Then I will act.”
By following this process, you are not deciding not to act. You are, rather, deciding to act from your highest place for the highest good. With dignity, integrity and grace.
It will take you less than five minutes.
Try it.
Five Minutes of Grace;
Inhale deeply.
Exhale completely.
Inhale and imagine you are inhaling the breadth of life, all that is pure and loving.
Exhale, let go of your fear, knowing you will find the strength and resources to handle anything.
Inhale, breathe in the breadth of life, with all of its love and resources.
Exhale, let go of your feelings of victimization, fear and anger.
Then, as you inhale and exhale, repeat these words: “Dignity, Integrity and Grace.”
Allow your heart to fill with dignity, integrity and grace.
Appreciate love.
Appreciate the moon.
Appreciate smiles.
Appreciate dogs.
Appreciate your children.
Appreciate your friends.
Appreciate that we can all make this world a great world.
Appreciate anything that comes to mind.
See the world with dignity, integrity and grace…..even if only for five minutes.
